PRIVATE CHEF JOB DESCRIPTION - GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY


High-End Seasonal Placement (One-Month Contract)


We are seeking a Michelin-caliber Private Chef for a family of three based in Greenwich Village. This is a one-month placement for a "foodie" household with an incredibly discerning palate. The family appreciates the nuance of world-class culinary execution, favoring exceptional ingredients and precise technique over unnecessary complexity.

The ideal candidate will possess a formal professional demeanor and the ability to maintain a "Kosher-style" kitchen while delivering a refined, exceptional flavor menu.


LOCATION: Greenwich Village, NYC

SCHEDULE: * Duration: One-Month Contract (Starts ASAP – June 16).

  • Days: 4 days per week. The family is highly flexible on which days, but Friday service is a priority for weekly Shabbat dinners.
  • Hours: Service for Lunch (12:00 PM) and Dinner (Weekdays 6:30 PM / Friday 7:30 PM).
  • Note: For one week during this contract (and occasionally throughout), the family will be based in Long Island near JFK (Atlantic Beach NY); the chef must be willing to travel/commute to this location (approx. 1 hour from NYC).


HOUSEHOLD:

  • Three to five adults 
  • Collaborative Environment: The chef will work alongside a full-time housekeeper and coordinate with a professional server during hosted events.
  • The household values privacy and professionalism; the chef should be capable of high-level formality.


MEALS:

  • Lunch: Fresh, healthy, and refined options.
  • Dinner: A mix of sophisticated family-style and elegant individual plating.
  • Focus: The family has "high tastes" and can easily distinguish between average and exceptional execution.


SERVICE STYLE: Versatile. The chef must be comfortable pivoting between casual family meals and formal, multi-course dining for guests.


CUISINE PREFERENCES:

  • Primary: French (Top Preference), Italian (Via Carota/I Sodi style), Greek, and High-End Steakhouse.
  • Inspiration: The benchmark for quality is Le Bernardin - perfection in ingredients and execution.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Kosher-Style Management: Maintain a strictly pork-free and shellfish-free kitchen. (Note: Non-kosher dairy is permitted).
  • Provisioning: Sourcing the absolute best ingredients NYC has to offer; expert-level knowledge of local purveyors and markets is essential.
  • Kitchen Care: Management of a high-end kitchen featuring two large marble islands, a six-burner range, and double ovens.
  • Full Cycle Service: Menu planning, shopping, preparation, service, and meticulous clean-up.


IDEAL CHEF PROFILE:

  • Background: Mandatory Michelin-star restaurant experience. Prior private home experience is preferred but the culinary pedigree is the priority.
  • Qualities: Appropriately formal yet flexible. Reliable, organized, and focused on excellence.



COMPENSATION:

  • Day Rate: $800 - $1000 DOE
  • Terms: One-month fixed contract with potential for full time beginning in August.
