We are seeking a high-caliber, versatile, and professional Private Chef to join a dynamic household in Port Washington, NY. This is a long-term, full-time placement for a family of four who values "clean" eating without sacrificing flavor. The ideal candidate is a culinary expert who can seamlessly pivot between casual family meals and high-end, formal parties, all while maintaining a warm and positive presence in the home.

LOCATION & SCHEDULE

  • Location: Port Washington, NY. Open to local talent.
  • Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday.
  • Hours: Focused on Lunch (1:30 PM) and Dinner (6:30 PM) service, plus snacks.
  • Flexibility: Requires "Summer Flexibility" to accommodate the family’s seasonal rhythm.
  • Duration: Long-term contract.

HOUSEHOLD & SERVICE STYLE

  • The Family: Two adults and two children.
  • The Vibe: Easy-going, family-oriented, and pet-friendly (must be comfortable with dogs).
  • Service Style: Versatile. The chef must be adept at casual family-style meals, refined plated service for formal entertaining, and everything in between.
  • Collaboration: The chef will work closely with the Estate/House Manager to ensure the home runs smoothly.

CUISINE PREFERENCES

The family enjoys a global palate with a heavy emphasis on healthy, clean, and delicious execution.

  • Primary Focus: Mediterranean, California Coastal, and Steakhouse-style.
  • Global Range: Mexican, Asian (Chinese, Japanese/Sushi, Thai, Vietnamese), Middle Eastern, Indian, French, and Italian.
  • Specialty Skills: BBQ/Grilling and proficient use of a full pizza oven.
  • Regular Favorites: High-quality steaks, handmade pastas, burgers, and vibrant, seasonal salads.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gluten-Free Excellence: While there are no major allergies, the chef must be highly skilled in gluten-free cooking, ensuring meals are safe and satisfying.
  • Sourcing & Provisioning: Daily food shopping at premium markets; sourcing the highest quality seasonal and organic ingredients.
  • Kitchen Management: Total oversight of a brand-new, top-of-the-line kitchen. Maintaining impeccable cleanliness and organization is a non-negotiable.
  • Menu Planning: Creating diverse, exciting weekly menus inspired by a range of dining experiences (from the soul-food Italian of Don Peppe to the high-end precision of Ito).

IDEAL CHEF PROFILE

  • Personality: Calm temperament, "kid-friendly," and a positive "service with a smile" attitude. Someone who is professional yet approachable.
  • Experience: Proven track record in high-end private estates or Michelin-level restaurants.
  • Skills: Strong vegetable-forward techniques, fermentation/pickling knowledge, and mastery of various international flavor profiles.
  • Reliability: A candidate who is organized, punctual, and takes full ownership of the culinary program.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary: $125,000 - $150,000 DOE + Health Benefits
  • Relocation: The family is willing to cover relocation or commuting/travel costs for the right out-of-area candidate.
  • Stability: Long-term employment in a professional, well-managed estate.
